IJP Panel In Memoriam Jean-Michel Quinodoz

Join us on March 27th at the EPF Conference for “The Annuals of the International Journal of Psychoanalysis” panel, held in memory of Jean-Michel Quinodoz.
???? March 27, 2026
⏰ 17.30–19.00
???? Chair: Francis Grier (Editor-in-Chief, IJP)
???? Speakers: Monica Bomba, Daniela Luca, Melis Tanik Sivri
The panel is organized as a tribute to Jean-Michel Quinodoz, the first Editor-in-Chief of the Annuals of the IJP, who sadly passed away in 2025. During the panel, Monica Bomba will show a video interview with Antonino Ferro about the birth of the Italian Annual inspired by J-M Quinodoz. Also, Bomba will discuss how translation can act as a filter that attenuates the transference we might spontaneously project onto the author or the original text, echoing Quinodoz’s reflections, as a way of introducing a “third point of view” that enables a form of psychic distance. Daniela Luca will discuss the psychoanalytic heritage of J-M Quinodoz based on his works, making a bridge with the institutional role of Quinodoz in the Romanian Society as well as the launching of the Romanian Annual. Lastly, Melis Tanik Sivri will discuss the function of the Annuals in transmitting psychoanalytic knowledge and establishing a psychoanalytic language in one’s native language in countries (such as Turkey) where psychoanalysis is newly flourishing, with references to the role and works of J-M Quinodoz.
